Arsenal winger Noni Madueke is reportedly the subject of transfer interest from Atletico Madrid and Juventus. Both clubs are apparently monitoring his situation at Emirates Stadium ahead of the winter window opening.
Madueke, 24, has been an unused substitute in three of the Gunners' first five Premier League matches. His only league appearances came as a substitute against Chelsea and Coventry City, but they lasted for less than half an hour combined.
Loan deal with option to buy considered
The winger also came off the bench against Napoli in the Champions League. Madueke then started the Carabao Cup third round tie against Ipswich Town and scored Arsenal's second goal.
Atletico and Juventus are each weighing up a loan deal for the England international, with an option to purchase the player potentially included in any agreement, according to CaughtOffside. However, no formal discussions have yet taken place regarding a transfer.
Madueke still has four years remaining on his contract after signing last summer. Arsenal forked out £48.5million to secure the winger from Chelsea, with the deal bolstering Mikel Arteta's squad ahead of a first Premier League title triumph in over two decades.
Madueke accepts squad battle
Speaking last month, Madueke indicated he had come to terms with the need to battle for his spot in Arteta's starting eleven, such is the fierce competition at Arsenal. Madueke finds himself behind Bukayo Saka and is now also locked in a contest with teenage sensation Max Dowman.
"You know that you're fighting for places every week, on a game-to-game basis," Madueke said. "You know that you've got an amazing squad that has the ability to fight on all fronts."
"We've got a squad full of internationals, top players, and that's exactly what we need. It's a great club, a great environment, and I was saying [to Ezri Konsa] before he signed, it's the best place that he could've chosen."
Arteta criticises Brighton defeat
Madueke could be in contention to feature in Arsenal's first outing after the international break, following Arteta's damning assessment of his side's performance. The winger will remain at the club, having been overlooked by Thomas Tuchel for England duty.
Arteta said: "Brighton deserved to win the game. We didn't do the basics right for long periods, especially in the first half.
"We didn't win enough duels, and any second balls, and that stretches you. With the errors that we made, and especially with the principles we didn't apply against a team that wants to press you."
"So that puts us constantly under pressure and [we] didn't get out of that in the way we normally do. So a lot of things to learn and take, but ultimately disappointed."
