Liverpool could relaunch their move for Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh in the January transfer window, with the Seagulls' recent signings hinting at his possible departure. The Merseyside club had two offers, the highest at £60million, turned down for the Gambian international as they sought a replacement for Mohamed Salah on the right flank.
Brighton's signings hint at Minteh exit
Brighton completed a late swoop for Femi Azeez from Millwall, via a deal sheet, in the early hours of Wednesday morning. The 25-year-old is a right-sided winger who can also offer cover across the attack. The Seagulls also recruited Nigerian 19-year-old Zadok Johanna from Swedish outfit AIK earlier this summer, another right winger.
The twin signings appear to indicate that Brighton are working to safeguard their options on the right flank, should Minteh depart in the near future. With Liverpool's pursuit of Crystal Palace's Ismaila Sarr failing to materialise, and Brighton's evident preparation for Minteh's potential departure, a deal to bring the Seagulls winger to Anfield could be revived in January or even in the summer of 2027.
Camara 'waiting' on Liverpool move
Monaco's Lamine Camara has reportedly been informed he will complete a major transfer 'very soon' amid speculation linking him to Liverpool. The Anfield club also reportedly instructed the player to 'wait' for them as Camara's £47.1million switch to Chelsea broke down on deadline day.
Xabi Alonso's team sought to bring in a replacement for Enzo Fernandez, who left for Manchester City. But just hours after the deal collapsed, talkSPORT revealed that Liverpool had notified Monaco of their interest in a transfer for the midfielder next summer. They are understood to have informed the star that there's a possibility they could pursue him in 2027. The outlet also suggested that the Senegal international is being earmarked as a long-term replacement for Liverpool midfielder Alexis Mac Allister.
Monaco sporting director Thiago Scuro has hinted that the club may be willing to cash in on their prized asset next year. He said: "I've been saying that our strategy this summer is very clear. We need to generate money, as we've been saying, pushed by regulations and by everything that we've been discussing over the last few years in terms of financial constraints in our league. We had a clear plan to talk about the two topics. We also made clear that our priority was to keep Lamine in the club. It's going to be his third season; normally, it's the cycle that we do. We try to protect also the performance, because the performance is strongly connected to the financial situation of the club as well."
