Liverpool are reportedly tracking 16-year-old Uruguayan winger Nicolas Scotti, while Reds wide man Bradley Barcola has admitted he could face punishment for comments about a penalty decision in France's Nations League victory over Belgium.
With the Premier League on hold for the international break, several Liverpool players have been in action for their countries. France have made a 100 per cent start in the Nations League, with Jeremy Jacquet and Bradley Barcola both involved, though not without controversy.
Wonderkid Scotti on Liverpool's radar
According to reports in South America, Nicolas Scotti is the latest young talent on Liverpool's radar. The 16-year-old, who plays for Montevideo club Defensor Sporting, has a release clause of just under £6m. He is comfortable on either wing and grabbed a goal and an assist on his debut for Uruguay's Under-18s in August.
Scotti has already earned first-team minutes in the league but has yet to score his first senior goal. Defensor Sporting is the club where 2010 World Cup stars Sebastian Abreu and Maxi Pereira started their careers.
Barcola admits penalty comments could land him in trouble
Bradley Barcola has admitted he could land himself in trouble for comments about the non-award of a penalty in France's win over Belgium. He went down under a challenge from Nathan Ngoy, but the referee was unconvinced.
"If I talk about it, I'm probably in trouble, but I have to say what I think," Barcola said. "I felt the contact. I was inside the box and I was trying to continue the action."
"Maybe the referee saw it differently, but from where I was, it affected the play. What frustrates me most is that these decisions can change a game. You work for 90 minutes and sometimes one moment decides everything."
"I don't want to complain about referees in the Nations League or Premier League, I just want consistency. If there is contact and it affects the attacker, at least take another look. I'll probably get fined for saying this, but honestly, I thought it was a penalty."
