Liverpool could look to take advantage of Chelsea and Everton’s deadline day woes by landing Lamine Camara in January. The Reds are said to have earmarked Camara as a potential transfer target, but didn’t make a move for the Monaco midfielder late in the window.

Instead, it was Premier League rivals Chelsea who pushed to sign the playmaker, with it looking as if the Blues had secured his signature late on deadline day. However, after the deadline had come and gone, it was reported that the Camara deal fell through, with Chelsea left enraged with Monaco’s actions.
It’s claimed Monaco pulled the plug on the deal, as they were only willing to allow one of Camara or Folarin Balogun to leave on deadline day. The latter was closing in on a move to Everton, but overnight it was revealed that the Balogun deal also collapsed, meaning Camara could’ve been sold to Chelsea after all.
Liverpool’s patience
Alas, that won’t bother Liverpool too much, as they’ll look to capitalise when the January window rolls around by snatching Camara from underneath Chelsea’s noses. He’s clearly a player that is appreciated by Liverpool, with suggestions that they even reached out to Camara’s camp and asked him to hold out for a move to Liverpool down the line.
Liverpool had no intention of going into the market for permanent additions on deadline day, having spent so much money on securing the services of Bradley Barcola. Instead, it's suggested by talkSPORT that they told Camara's camp to wait, as they would be open to making a move in 2027.
Midfield concerns and upcoming fixtures
Whether Liverpool will be able to get through the first half of the season and still be in contention by the time January rolls around is another question. The Reds have already looked weak in midfield so far this season, and it’s definitely a position Liverpool will need to address in future windows.
It is suggested that Liverpool attempted some business of their own on deadline day, albeit without much success. Reports from France claimed that the six-time European champions reached out to Chelsea to secure Malo Gusto on loan. The west London outfit weren’t keen to entertain a loan move and instead insisted that any move for Gusto would have to be a permanent one. Suffice to say that didn’t materialise, meaning Andoni Iraola will have to settle with what he’s got, until January rolls around at least.
The Merseysiders have five games until the international break, but none of them can be considered particularly easy. Following a trip to Ipswich Town on Friday night, Liverpool host Atletico Madrid, with a league match against Fulham, followed by another encounter at Anfield, this time Tottenham in the Carabao Cup. In their final outing before the extended international break, Liverpool go away to Bournemouth.
