Arsenal could strengthen their squad further in the coming transfer windows, with five players identified as potential targets. The club spent almost £200million this summer, adding Bruno Guimaraes, Ezri Konsa and Piero Hincapie to midfield and defence, while Christos Tzolis was the only attacking signing, joining from Club Brugge.
Mikel Arteta had urged the club to "make some very important decisions" during the window, but a marquee forward addition failed to materialise. Attempts for Atletico Madrid's Julian Alvarez and Real Madrid's Vinicius Jr did not succeed. The club also sold Gabriel Jesus to Barcelona and allowed Gabriel Martinelli to depart for Al-Hilal in a deal worth £60m.
Five players on Arsenal's radar
Mirror Football has looked at five players Arsenal could sign in the next couple of windows. Viktor Gyokeres, Kai Havertz, Max Dowman, Noni Madueke, Eberechi Eze and Bukayo Saka remain on the Gunners' books this season, but further attacking options could be sought.
Julian Alvarez and Eli Junior Kroupi
Alvarez stayed at Atletico Madrid, despite reportedly favouring a switch to Barcelona. The 26-year-old's decision could shift in the coming months, and securing him would be a major coup for Arsenal's attack.
Bournemouth were resolute that Kroupi would not depart this summer, and their position was strengthened by the 20-year-old's recovery from injury. The forward scored 13 league goals for the Cherries last season and drew widespread interest. Arsenal reportedly maintained an interest in Kroupi prior to the summer transfer window. The Independent reports that Kroupi will "almost certainly" be an option the Gunners revisit in January. Signing him would substantially strengthen Arteta's choices, both immediately and for the future, with Kai Havertz and Viktor Gyokeres vying to be the club's leading striker.
Andreas Schjelderup and Raphinha
Benfica star Andreas Schjelderup could be a steal if Arsenal wait until next summer for a new left-winger. New signing Tzolis will only have Eze for competition on the left flank after the Gunners decided to cash in on multiple forwards this summer. Schjelderup's contract runs until 2028, meaning the Norway international will enter the final 12 months of his deal next summer, potentially resulting in a reduced transfer fee. The 22-year-old is a promising talent with considerable scope for development.
Raphinha would provide an immediate solution out wide. The 29-year-old is the Barcelona captain but will be in the final year of his contract next summer. The Brazilian has netted 80 goals and laid on 60 assists in 180 appearances for the Catalan club. Bringing Raphinha to the Emirates would also allow Arsenal to harness his wealth of experience and winning mentality.
Kaoru Mitoma as a potential option
Arsenal could replicate their Leandro Trossard masterstroke by swooping for Kaoru Mitoma as an established Premier League performer from Brighton. While not a long-term solution, the 29-year-old is entering the final year of his contract and could thrive within Arsenal's setup, either as a cut-price January signing or on a free transfer next summer.
