Trump Launches Late-Night Truth Social Tirade Against Political Foes

Donald Trump unleashed a late-night social media spree on Monday, posting over 50 times in three hours on his Truth Social platform. The outburst targeted political enemies including Barack Obama, the New York Times, and the Supreme Court, as the US president prepared for a high-stakes trip to China.

Trump shared doctored images of himself on a $100 bill and amplified calls for Democratic rivals to be prosecuted. He falsely accused Obama of plotting a coup, calling him a “traitor” and “the most demonic force in American politics”. Altered images showed Obama, Joe Biden, and Nancy Pelosi in a sewage-filled Lincoln Memorial reflecting pool.

The tirade came as millions of Americans face rising living costs tied to the US and Israel’s war with Iran. Trump, who campaigned against “endless wars”, has repeatedly extended the conflict, which began in late February. He described a ceasefire deal with Tehran as “on life support”.

Trump also attacked the New York Times over a report on a $6.9m contract to restore the reflecting pool, awarded to a company that renovated a pool at his Virginia golf course. He called the work “deeply complicated” and “beautiful construction”.

Other targets included Illinois Governor JB Pritzker, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, and Hillary Clinton. Trump repeated false claims about the 2020 election and criticised conservative justices Neil Gorsuch and Amy Coney Barrett for voting against his tariff agenda, calling their decisions “so bad, and hurtful to our Country”.
