Thousands of users worldwide reported issues with Reddit on Monday evening, with the website and app experiencing a major outage. DownDetector, a service that tracks online disruptions, recorded a sharp spike in complaints starting at around 9:27pm GMT, with over 1,000 reports from users in the UK, US, and other countries.
The outage left many users unable to access the platform or encountering errors when trying to create or view posts, particularly those containing images or video media. Social media users expressed frustration over the disruption, which follows a similar issue the previous day.
Reddit acknowledged the problem on January 18, stating that users were experiencing errors including difficulties with creating and viewing posts that have images or video. The company later announced that a fix had been implemented and the issue was resolved.
This latest outage comes just a day after Reddit reported another issue where users faced increased error rates when posting images or signing up for accounts. That problem was also resolved, according to the company.
