Claude, the artificial intelligence chatbot developed by Anthropic, experienced a significant outage on Tuesday, leaving users unable to access the service. The system was unresponsive to queries, displaying error messages such as “a bit longer, thanks for your patience” despite the chatbot page loading normally.
Anthropic acknowledged the issue, stating that the errors affected all of its models and that the company was working on a fix. Later, the firm confirmed that the problem had been identified, a fix had been deployed, and the system was expected to be back online shortly.
Claude is one of several AI chatbots launched following the success of ChatGPT in late 2022. Anthropic was founded in 2021 by former OpenAI employees who left to focus on AI safety. The outage occurred just hours after Anthropic announced plans to go public in the US, in a deal that could value the company at up to $1 trillion.
