BBC journalist Roger Johnson has asked members of the public to “please disregard” previous posts after suspecting that his account on X, formerly Twitter, has been hacked. The journalist and TV presenter shared the message on Thursday evening (September 24).
In a post on X, Mr Johnson wrote: “I believe my X account may have been hacked. Please disregard any posts from here until I post another video to say I’m satisfied it hasn’t been. Apologies.”
Video message to viewers
In a video shared with the post, Mr Johnson said: “Hello everyone. I think my X account may just have been hacked and this is probably the only device I still have access to it on. So I am going to post this video to say please disregard anything which you may see on here until I post another video to say that I'm satisfied that it hasn't been hacked. But I think maybe it has. Anyway, have a nice evening.”
Career at the BBC
Mr Johnson has worked at the BBC since 1994, with previous roles including a football commentator and reporter for BBC Sport, broadcasting for South Today, and now works on North West Tonight alongside Annabel Tiffin. He was born near Stoke-on-Trent and worked at BBC Radio Manchester earlier in his career. He has also been a news presenter on the BBC News Channel.
