Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Luis Campos has said the transfer window is not closed, keeping the door open for potential exits for Bradley Barcola and Ibrahim Mbaye, both linked with Liverpool this summer.
The Reds have made four signings so far, with three featuring in Sunday's 2-2 draw at Newcastle. Jeremy Jacquet started at St James' Park, while Victor Munoz and Ronald Araujo came off the bench. Munoz won the penalty converted by Dominik Szoboszlai in the 99th minute to earn a point.
PSG's stance on Barcola and Mbaye
Reports suggest an agreement in principle for a deal running until 2032 has been reached between Liverpool and Barcola, with only the transfer fee remaining. Negotiations for Mbaye are said to be continuing, though Barcola remains the primary target.
Campos told L1+: "The transfer window isn't closed. I understand the question, but you have to understand my position. It's important to defend PSG and the club. You mentioned (Bradley) Barcola and (Ibrahim) Mbaye; we'll see what happens. It's like this every year."
He added: "I remind you what happened last year with Gigio Donnarumma; it was really late. This transfer window isn't over at all; it's open. Even on the incoming side, if we find a good opportunity, we'll take it."
Van Dijk backs recruitment team
Virgil van Dijk has expressed full confidence in Liverpool's recruitment team to provide Andoni Iraola with the resources needed for the season. Victor Munoz and Jeremy Jacquet are the only additions so far this summer.
Van Dijk said: "Everyone wants to see quality arrive regardless. I fully trust the club and the board to make the right decisions. That's the only thing I can say. Let's see what they do. Regardless of what happens, we are Liverpool and we have to give everything."
Reflecting on the new approach under Iraola, he added: "Last year it was very unacceptable, but that was last year. I don't want to talk about that - we are looking forward and looking to improve. Hopefully next week it will be very close to what (Iraola) wants us to do."
Iraola will look to wrap up his business in a busy week that includes the Champions League draw and his first competitive match at Anfield as Reds boss against Nottingham Forest on Saturday.
