Asda, Marks and Spencer and Home Bargains have issued urgent product recall notices this week, urging customers to stop using affected items. The recalls cover a children's toy, a jug and a range of crisps, with refunds offered to customers.
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) and the Office for Product Safety and Standards (OPSS) have also issued the recall notices to warn shoppers. Customers are advised to check if they have the affected items and to stop using them immediately.
Asda recalls children's toy over choking risk
Asda has urged customers to stop using its Hapello Power Train toy and return it to the store for a refund. The multicoloured battery-powered train poses a choking risk to children because it contains small, easily detachable parts.
The OPSS stated: "The product presents a risk of choking because a small part (the orange steam dome) may easily detach from the top of the train. This small part poses a choking risk to young children, particularly those under 36 months of age who have a natural tendency to explore objects by placing them in their mouths. The product does not meet the requirements of the Toys (Safety) Regulations 2011."
The toy was sold in stores from August 2024 until February 2026 and has the barcode 5063089308547. Asda said: "We are very sorry for any inconvenience caused. If you would like any further information, please contact: Asda Customer Relations – 0330 053 0111."
Marks and Spencer jug recalled over glass breakage risk
Marks and Spencer's Hand Painted Jug has been taken off the shelves, and customers have been asked to return it. The blue-tinted jug with painted leaf decorations poses a risk because the glass may break during use.
The retailer said: "We have identified a potential safety issue with this product as there is a risk of glass breakage resulting in injury. We recommend that you stop using this product immediately. The product is no longer available for sale. Please return this product to any M&S store (excl. Outlets or Franchise stores) for a full refund. We are sorry for any inconvenience caused."
Customers who need further information have been told to visit the Marks and Spencer website or call 0333 014 8434. The jug has the model number T34/9829D and has been on sale since February 28, 2026.
Home Bargains crisps recalled over undeclared allergens
Lay's Sour Cream & Dill Crisps, sold in Home Bargains, have been recalled after it was found that the snacks contain both milk and wheat, neither of which appears on the packaging. This makes them a potential health hazard for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents, wheat or gluten, or those with coeliac disease.
The recall covers the 125g bag with best before dates up to and including October 31, 2026. The FSA said: "If you have bought this product, do not eat it. Instead, return it to the store from which you bought the product for a full refund."
Customers can return the item to their nearest store for a full refund, or reach out to support@home.bargains for further assistance.
