The £99 Blaupunkt Compressor Dehumidifier from B&M has been described as a game-changer for households without a tumble dryer, helping to dry clothes indoors and tackle damp.

Why the dehumidifier is popular
Money saving expert Martin Lewis has called tumble dryers a “demon appliance”, which has led households to rush to buy dehumidifiers, with many selling out. The Blaupunkt model is one of the more affordable options on the market at under £100.
The gadget uses a “high efficiency compressor” that works to “quickly reduce humidity levels in your home”. It can extract up to 10L of excess moisture per day and has a large 2.2L water tank that auto-shuts off when full.
Features and performance
The device has a digital touch control and LED display unit, making it look like pricier models. It offers a range of modes, fan speeds and humidity levels, including a “laundry mode” to assist with drying clothes indoors and prevent damp during winter.
Williams found it easy to set up out of the box, needing only to plug it into the mains and select a mode. It automatically sets the correct humidity level and fan speed for the best drying power.
The fan hums along smoothly and cannot be heard from other rooms. A full load of washing is borderline dry within a few hours even when it is cold outside, with heavier items taking longer but never more than a full day. Bedding and towels become bone dry overnight.
Versatility and verdict
The 2.2L water tank can get heavy after a few uses, but the drawer slides out easily for emptying. The display panel highlights when the tank is full.
Williams also uses the dehumidifier in other rooms during colder seasons to prevent mould and cut back on central heating bills. A humidity indicator shows red for high, green for medium and blue for normal moisture levels. A timer can be set between 1-24 hours, and the device also has a defrost function, child lock, sleep function and fan-only mode.
