Couple Find Hidden Camera in Clock at Airbnb Flat

A couple from Glasgow has reported finding a hidden camera inside a digital clock at an Airbnb apartment in Toronto, Canada. Dougie Hamilton, 34, and his girlfriend discovered the device, which was pointed towards their bed, after becoming suspicious of the clock's appearance.

Hamilton said he had recently watched a YouTube video about secret cameras hidden in everyday objects. When he picked up the clock, he easily slid off its face and found a tiny lens that may have been recording them. The clock was connected to a wire resembling a phone charger and contained a lithium battery.

The couple alerted Airbnb and Toronto police, who are both investigating. Hamilton posted about the incident on Facebook, warning others to be cautious when using the platform. He said they had only been in the apartment for 20 minutes before he noticed the clock.

Airbnb has removed the host from the platform while it investigates and offered the couple a full refund. A spokesperson for Airbnb stated: 'We take privacy issues extremely seriously and have a zero tolerance policy for this behaviour.'

Toronto police confirmed they received a call about a video camera in a clock in an apartment. The couple described the encounter as 'creepy' and have since received support from Airbnb.
