Digital recipe platform Cookrate has shared an unorthodox method for cooking chicken breasts, claiming it delivers "delicious results" every time. The technique, demonstrated in a TikTok clip, involves sliced butter and several glass tumblers.
Butter and Glasses Method
Cookrate instructed viewers to "cut butter into a few glasses," slicing a round stick of butter into several tumblers standing in a frying pan. "Then, fill the glasses with chicken breast cut into pieces," they added.
After four minutes of steaming, which allows the butter to dissolve around the poultry, home cooks should carefully remove each glass from the pan. "Next, cut off the top [around a third] of a large plastic bottle and pour in the chicken," Cookrate explained.
Ingredients and Freezing
The recipe then calls for adding 200g of grated mozzarella and 25g of finely-chopped parsley into the bottle, followed by 120g of mayonnaise and 100g of sifted flour. After seasoning with a pinch of salt and pepper, Cookrate combined the ingredients and froze them for six hours.
"Cut the frozen contents into equal slices," they noted, before removing the plastic covering from each segment. Cookrate then grated 60g of butter into a pan and heated it until bubbling. Each slice was placed into the pan and cooked on a medium heat on both sides for six minutes until browned.
Sauce and Serving
For the sauce, Cookrate instructed: "Peel a red onion and finely chop it into a bowl along with more finely-chopped parsley [20g]. Peel and grate a few garlic cloves and season with mixed herbs, chilli flakes, salt, black pepper and olive oil [30ml]."
They finished by folding 150g of Greek yoghurt into the bowl. "Simple, quick and delicious," Cookrate enthused as they dipped in their chicken creation.
Meanwhile, Lisa of the food blog Downshiftology recommends roasting chicken breasts at a high temperature for the best results. "The key to juicy chicken breasts is to cook them hot at 425F (218C) for the right amount of time. For small breasts, cook for 18-20 minutes. For larger breasts, cook for 20-25 minutes," she said. She advises using a food thermometer to remove the chicken from the oven once it reaches an internal temperature of 160F (71C).
