X Platform Hit By Major Outage: App and Website Crash for Thousands Worldwide

Thousands of social media users have reported problems on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, in a widespread outage that began around 1pm on Monday. According to the tracking site DownDetector, more than 11,000 users in the UK alone have reported issues, with the total rising to over 40,000 in the United States.

Users attempting to access the app or website have been met with a message reading: 'Something went wrong. Try reloading.' The 'For You' page appears to be showing the latest updates on some feeds, but many are unable to load or refresh their timelines. The cause of the outage remains unknown, and X has not yet issued a statement.

The disruption is not limited to the UK; reports have also come in from Brazil, France, Australia, and other countries. Of those reporting problems, 57 percent said they were using the app, though this may reflect the fact that most of X's users are on the mobile platform. It is unclear when the issue will be resolved.
