Meghan Markle's 'authentic' yoga venture: Expert warns of risks
Meghan Markle's yoga venture: Expert warns of risks

The Duchess of Sussex could be about to make a very "authentic commercial move" by launching a yoga business in the UK, but she has been warned to be careful.

Just days ago, it was rumoured that Meghan Markle could be eyeing up a new business venture in Britain. This comes over a month after she relocated back to the UK with her husband, Prince Harry, and their two children, Prince Archie, seven, and Princess Lilibet, five. While unconfirmed by the duchess herself, it is believed she could be considering launching some kind of yoga business.

Expert backs yoga move but urges caution

This is reportedly inspired by her long love of yoga, which she seems to have developed from her mum, Doria Ragland. While Meghan has yet to comment on the rumour, which was revealed by a source speaking to RadarOnline, a brand and culture expert has shared his thoughts on the potential move.

As a former friend of Meghan, brand and culture expert Nick Ede believes that a yoga business would be "authentic" for Prince Harry's wife, as it is something she is passionate about. However, to make it work, he has advised that the duchess should be careful not to make it all about her.

Speaking to the Daily Express, Ede said: "If Meghan were to launch a yoga or wellness business in Britain, I actually think it could be one of the most authentic commercial moves she has made. Yoga isn't something that's suddenly appeared in Meghan's life because wellness is fashionable; it's been part of her story for decades, and, of course, her mother Doria has taught yoga. From a branding perspective, that authenticity is incredibly valuable."

He continued: "My advice would be: start small and don't over-hype it, and be inclusive. The smartest thing she could do is make the business less about Meghan Markle and more about what she can create for others. If she gets that balance right, yoga could potentially become a very credible next chapter for her in Britain."

Low-profile life since return

Since moving back to the UK, Meghan has not had any official public engagements or made any official announcements. Instead, while Harry has been seen out and about on official engagements, she has kept a low profile.

This has involved heading out for pub lunches with A-list friends and her husband, and enjoying pilates classes at Soho Farmhouse. The duchess has also been seen driving around the Cotswolds. Behind closed doors, it is believed Meghan has also been prioritising her children and making sure they are settling well into UK life. This has been especially important for the duchess over the last few weeks as the children have been settling into a new school.

As the family settles more into UK life, it is likely Meghan will turn her attention to her own work and career prospects. Since moving to Britain, she has kept her brand, As Ever, her key focus, launching various new products on her online shop. These products are still not available to UK customers and are only being sold in the US. They include a special 2026 holiday Advent calendar.

What the yoga venture could involve

If yoga is Meghan's next business move, it is not entirely clear what kind of venture she will pursue. The source told RadarOnline: "Yoga has been part of Meghan's life for years, so this isn't about suddenly attaching herself to something fashionable. She genuinely loves it and understands the physical and mental benefits."

"She thinks a yoga business under her branding could be great in the UK. There is an enormous wellness market here, and she believes there is room to create something that feels premium but also welcoming and accessible. Nothing has been finalised, but she has been considering how her interest in wellness could evolve into a proper commercial offering. That might involve digital content, events, products or collaborations rather than simply opening a traditional yoga studio."
