Medical student claims 'dumb' MAGA crowd fooled by AI influencer

A 22-year-old medical student from northern India, identified only as Sam, has claimed that the 'dumb' MAGA crowd was easy to fool with an AI-generated conservative influencer he created. Speaking to Wired, Sam said he made thousands of dollars per month from the fake persona, Emily Hart, by posting pro-Trump content on Instagram and Facebook.

The AI-generated influencer's pages, which have since been taken down, touched on topics like immigration and abortion. One post read: 'Trump should tell all the illegals that he will give them citizenship if they vote Republican and see how fast Democrats want them out of the country.' Another stated: 'Christ is king, abortion is murder, and all illegals must be deported.'

Sam told Wired he launched the accounts after coming up with the idea to create and sell AI-generated images of a woman in a bikini. He used Google's Gemini AI platform, which suggested targeting the 'MAGA/conservative niche' as the audience often has higher disposable income and is more loyal. A Google spokesperson said Gemini is designed to answer requests without conveying a particular set of beliefs.

In addition to social media accounts, Sam sold MAGA apparel and subscriptions to a Fanvue page for Emily Hart. He said he doesn't regret his actions, stating: 'I was spending maybe 30 to 50 minutes of my day, and I was making good money for a medical student.'
