The open beta for Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls, developed by Guilty Gear creators Arc System Works and published by Sony, kicks off on Friday, July 24 at 8am BST in the UK. The beta will run for 72 hours, ending on Monday, July 27 at 7.59am BST.
How to Access the Open Beta
The open beta is free for everyone on PlayStation 5, Steam, and the Epic Games Store. No sign-up is required, though a PlayStation account is needed on PS5. Players can pre-download the beta from their platform's store starting two hours before the beta goes live, which is 6am BST on July 24.
Character Roster and Stages
The beta includes 15 playable characters from the full game's 20-character launch roster. The selectable fighters are: Captain America, Iron Man, Black Panther, Storm, Magik, Wolverine, Danger, Spider-Man, Ms. Marvel, Star-Lord, Peni Parker, Ghost Rider, Blade, Doctor Doom, and Magneto.
Players can battle across six stages: Marvel's New York (Day), Savage Land, X-Mansion, Knowhere, Wakanda, and Marvel's New York (Night).
Game Modes Available
The beta offers casual and ranked online matches, local versus battles against friends or AI, and an open lobby with miniature avatars for challenging other players. A tutorial Start Up Battle and Training Mode are available for newcomers. For the first time, players can try the first three chapters of the Amazing Guardians storyline in Episode Mode, featuring Spider-Man, Ms. Marvel, Star-Lord, and Peni Parker.
Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls is set to launch on August 6, 2026.
