Fortnite Update Lets Fans Remake The Simpsons Hit and Run

Fortnite is set to receive a significant update later this year that will provide fans with the tools to recreate the beloved classic, The Simpsons Hit and Run. This collaboration between Disney and Epic Games will bring official Simpsons game assets to the Unreal Editor for Fortnite (UEFN), allowing players to build their own Simpsons-themed creations within Fortnite.

Official Simpsons Assets Coming to Fortnite

Despite The Simpsons Hit and Run being released in 2003, it remains the most popular video game based on the animated series. Fans have long desired a remake, and while Activision may be working on an official version, Disney and Epic Games are giving players the opportunity to create their own. The announcement post states: "With the official toolkit coming later this year, developers will have access to a rich library of iconic characters, locations, and assets – all Unreal Editor for Fortnite-ready – to build Simpsons-themed games in Fortnite."

Previous Collaboration with The Simpsons

This is not the first time Fortnite has collaborated with The Simpsons. During Chapter 6, Mini Season 2, parts of Springfield were replicated on the Fortnite island, and skins for characters like Homer, Marge, Bart, and Lisa were available in the item shop. The upcoming update will expand on this by providing a comprehensive set of assets for creators.

Similar Success with Star Wars Assets

Disney previously collaborated with Fortnite to bring Star Wars assets to UEFN, resulting in several popular spin-off modes. According to a press release: "Within the first 72 hours of that launch, nearly 8 million players jumped into custom Star Wars islands built by the community. Galactic Siege racked up 6.53 million total plays in its first six days, Escape Vader drew 3.37 million plays over the same period, and that week Droid Tycoon became the second most-played experience in Fortnite."

Potential for The Simpsons Hit and Run Recreation

Given the popularity of The Simpsons in gaming, Fortnite is likely to see a surge in player engagement once the assets are available. While recreating The Simpsons Hit and Run exactly may pose rights issues, it is highly probable that creative players will attempt to build their own versions. Disney and Epic Games have not announced an official release date, but the assets are expected to arrive before the end of 2026.
