Assassin's Creed Hexe Teased in Black Flag Resynced

Eagle-eyed Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced fans have spotted what appears to be an early nod towards the next game in the series, Assassin’s Creed Hexe, within the re-imagined pirate adventure.

Rift Missions Reveal Hidden Clue

One of the new additions to the remake of Ubisoft’s 2013 classic is Rift missions. These optional missions see the player dive into the Animus, uncovering elements of the present-day storyline that was controversially cut from the remake.

In these Rift missions, the environment constantly changes as players progress. During the last of these missions, a peculiar building appears in the background: a gothic church that bears a striking resemblance to the Church of St. Lorenz in Nuremberg, Germany.

Architecture Stands Out in Caribbean Setting

As spotted by Synth Potato on X, the church’s architecture is vastly different from anything else in the Caribbean setting of Black Flag. This is significant because Germany is widely believed to be the setting for Assassin’s Creed Hexe, the next mainline game in the series.

Synth Potato posted on July 13, 2026: “Black Flag Resynced includes the Church of St. Lorenz, located in Nuremberg, Germany, in one of its modern-day rifts. This is setting up the next Assassin’s Creed game, AC: Hexe. Which takes place in Germany during the 16th-17th centuries.”

What We Know About Assassin’s Creed Hexe

Ubisoft has not officially confirmed much about Assassin’s Creed Hexe beyond a teaser trailer released in 2022. The game is thought to be set during the Holy Roman Empire in the 16th and 17th centuries. Early leaks and rumours point towards a female protagonist, with players able to explore forested areas around the city of Würzburg.

Both Würzburg and Nuremberg are geographically close, so the appearance of a church from Nuremberg in Black Flag Resynced suggests those early rumours are likely accurate.

Release Date Rumours

Assassin’s Creed Hexe is reportedly targeting a 2027 release date, though no date is set in stone. Ubisoft has only stated it hopes to get the game out before the end of fiscal year 2029.
