iPhone users have been warned to change two key settings on their devices to protect against cyber attacks. The advice comes from tech expert Scott Polderman, who shared the tips in a TikTok video that has since garnered over 84,000 likes.
According to Polderman, hackers can exploit default settings to access personal information. He urged users to turn off 'Ask to Join Networks' under WiFi settings, and to adjust 'AirPlay and Continuity' settings under General to either 'Ask' or 'Never'.
Polderman explained that public networks are a common entry point for hackers, who then use AirPlay to infiltrate devices. Disabling these settings not only enhances security but can also improve battery life by preventing constant network searches.
Many viewers were surprised to learn that these settings were enabled by default. One commented, 'Mine were both on. Thanks for sharing.' Another asked for clarification on why 'Ask to Join' was risky, to which Polderman responded that joining public networks poses a significant threat.
