Amazon has confirmed that Alexa.com is now live in the UK, giving users a new way to interact with the upgraded Alexa+ assistant directly from a web browser. The move means millions of Britons no longer need an Echo speaker to access the smart assistant's capabilities.
What Alexa+ on the Web Offers
According to Amazon, users can visit Alexa.com to get quick answers, explore complex topics, create content, and receive help with homework. The system can also manage family calendars, control smart home devices, and book restaurant reservations. Additional features include planning weekly meals, organising life admin, and curating movie recommendations based on previous preferences.
“With more than half of UK households already having an Alexa-enabled device, Alexa is already deeply integrated into daily life,” Amazon explained. “But people are finding incredible value in how AI can help in every aspect of their day, and to truly serve as a personal assistant, Alexa+ needs to be available wherever they are—at home, on their phone, and now on the web. Alexa.com brings the full power of Alexa+ right to your browser.”
Early Access and Availability
Currently, the web-based Alexa+ is only available to users who have signed up for early access. Those eligible can head to alexa.com and interact with Alexa+ on any web browser, including Chrome or Safari. Users can type requests into the Alexa search bar or choose from suggested prompts under the chat window.
“We’re excited about the potential that new modalities will add to Alexa+, and there’s much more to come with the capabilities, partners and experiences we have planned,” Amazon added.
Alexa+ is already available in the UK, and the web expansion marks a significant step in making the assistant more accessible without dedicated hardware.
