Liverpool will learn their Carabao Cup third-round opponents through two separate draws on Wednesday evening, with the Reds among eight clubs competing in Europe who enter at the final 32 stage.
Andoni Iraola's side, one of five English teams in the Champions League, will have their tie scheduled for the midweek following the competition's start in the week beginning September 7. The three Premier League clubs in the Europa League will see their ties take place in the earlier midweek.
How the two draws work
None of the eight European qualifiers can be drawn against each other. They will be placed in a separate pot from the other 24 qualified clubs.
A preliminary draw, broadcast live on Sky at around 7.20pm, will determine whether each European qualifier plays home or away in the third round. The main draw follows at around 10.15pm on Sky Sports after Everton's second-round tie at Preston North End.
Draw order and Liverpool's record
In the main draw, the first eight ties will involve the Champions League and Europa League participants, with their home or away position already decided. Each will then be drawn against a club from the separate bowl. The final eight ties will be determined by a normal draw between the remaining 16 clubs in the second pot.
Liverpool have won the League Cup a record 10 times, with their last triumph coming in 2024 when they beat Chelsea 1-0 in the final at Wembley.
