Emmerdale and Coronation Street have both been taken off air again this evening (Tuesday, August 25) in yet another ITV schedule shake-up.
The disruption comes amid some major storylines for both soaps, with Emmerdale currently in the middle of Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) and Dawn Taylor’s (Olivia Bromley) dramatic wedding week. Last night’s episode saw Caleb Miligan (William Ash) announce his revenge on Joe, who thought his happy ending was finally within reach.
Meanwhile, on the cobbles of Coronation Street, Ben Driscoll’s (Aaron McCusker) craft beer event caused tension between him and his son, Ollie (Raphael Akuwudike), and Todd Grimshaw’s (Gareth Pierce) actions drew backlash from his loved ones.
Why are Emmerdale and Coronation Street not on ITV tonight?
It will come as no surprise to many that the soaps have been booted from their usual slot to make room for the football. Tonight, ITV is broadcasting the EFL Carabao Cup match between Nottingham Forest and Leeds United.
It is the only match in the second round that will see two Premier League teams face off against each other. Coverage of the game begins from 7.30pm, with kick-off at 8pm.
When are Emmerdale and Coronation Street next on TV?
Emmerdale and Coronation Street return to our screens tomorrow (Wednesday, August 26) in their usual time slots, as well as on YouTube and ITVX from 7am.
Viewers will first be able to tune into Emmerdale at 8pm, where Dawn has a big decision to make. Will she go ahead with her plan to run away with Billy Fletcher (Jay Kontzle) and the kids, or has Graham Foster (Andrew Scarborough) planted enough seeds of doubt to send her back to Joe?
Coronation Street will follow at 8.30pm, where Lucy Parkinson (Anya Dewin) makes her feelings for Tim and Sally Metcalfe (Joe Duttine and Sally Dynevor) clear, and Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) is alarmed to find blood on Kit Green’s (Jacob Roberts) clothes.
Both soaps will continue to air in their scheduled slots for the rest of the week. They will also air on Sunday, August 30, to make up for today’s loss, with Emmerdale hitting our screens at 8pm followed by Corrie at 8.30pm.
