Day two of Southport Airshow is set to bring another day of fast planes and daring aerobatics to the seaside town. Tens of thousands of people are expected to attend on Sunday, August 30, to watch a packed schedule of aircraft.
Red Arrows return for second display
The famous Red Arrows will perform for a second day, having appeared on Saturday afternoon. Their display on Sunday is scheduled for 3.30pm. Timings can change due to the weather, and as of Friday, rain was forecast in Southport on Saturday afternoon.
In an update on Thursday, a spokesperson for the Red Arrows said: "With poor weather into the bank holiday weekend, the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team will be doing all it can to get to planned events and displays." They added: "At this stage, displays in Clacton and Southport are unaffected but airshow crowds should continue to monitor official event and team social media pages."
Full Sunday schedule and ground attractions
The Red Arrows are the penultimate aircraft on the schedule, with the airshow finishing with a display from the Typhoon. Other aircraft performing on Sunday include the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, A-26 Invader and The Starlings.
On the ground, activities for kids include bungee trampolines, bumper cars and classic games like Hook-a-Duck. Fans can also get up close to replica planes and try flight simulators. On Marine Drive, the Military Village will host equipment displays from the Armed Forces.
