Rabbi Matondo close to Hibs move as Reedijk names backroom team

Hibs are closing in on a deal to bring Rabbi Matondo back to Scotland. The former Rangers winger has been training under new boss Marink Reedijk and has impressed, with the Easter Road club opening talks over a deal.

The 26-year-old is hoping to make his debut at Dundee United on Saturday. Matondo spent four years at Ibrox, but injuries stopped the Welsh international from making an impact. He left earlier this year for a move to Norwegian side SK Brann and is now keen to return to British football. Reedijk is giving him that opportunity to get his career back on track.

Reedijk confirms backroom team

Meanwhile, Reedijk has confirmed his Hibs backroom team. Rogier Molhoek will be his performance manager, Brian McLaughlin the first-team coach, Guillaume Beuzelin the individual development plan coach and Scott Thomson returns as goalkeeping coach.

Reedijk said: “I am really pleased with the team we have put together. It was important for me to have people around me who share the same football ideas, standards and ambition.

“Rogier and I know each other well and have worked together before, so he understands how I want our teams to play and the environment we want to create.

“Brian brings a huge amount of experience and knowledge of Scottish football and player development, while Scott and Guillaume know this Club extremely well and understand what it means to be part of Hibs.

“Having people with different experiences and strengths is important. We want to create an environment where the players can develop, perform and enjoy their football, and I am looking forward to working with everyone and what we can achieve together.”
