England face a monumental challenge on Saturday as they take on Mexico at the iconic Estadio Azteca in a World Cup last-16 clash. Mexico have lost just two competitive matches at the stadium in 57 years, making El Tri's home advantage a formidable obstacle. Thomas Tuchel's side must reach a level that has evaded them so far in the tournament, as Harry Kane cannot be expected to rescue them from every difficult situation, as he did in the comeback win over DR Congo.
Brazil v Norway: A Heavyweight Clash in New Jersey
Another heavyweight clash takes place in New Jersey, where Brazil face Norway. The five-time winners have grown into the World Cup with each match, while Erling Haaland and his teammates are living up to their billing as dark horses. Brazil are far from a perfect team, but Carlo Ancelotti is finding solutions to their problems. The comeback win over Japan in the round of 32 highlighted the quality of a team that was written off by some early in the tournament.
Norway also have momentum after seeing off Ivory Coast in the last round. Encouragingly for Stale Solbakken, Haaland and Martin Odegaard did not have to carry the team; Antonio Nusa and Oscar Bobb stepped up to secure the win. Norway are more than just a one- or two-man team.
Player to Watch: Vinicius Junior
Vinicius Junior could be the most electrifying and influential player for either side. If the winger turns up, Brazil could have the edge in what promises to be a star-studded encounter.
Mexico v England: A Test of Character
Mexico have been perfect so far: four wins, eight goals scored, none conceded. Javier Aguirre's side have genuine hope of continuing their World Cup journey. El Tri are still targeting 'quinto partido' even if it is now a 'sexto partido' in the expanded format. England, meanwhile, have struggled to find top form, with unconvincing performances against Ghana, Panama and DR Congo. Yet the Three Lions still possess the talent to be a factor deep into the tournament. This will be their biggest test so far.
Player to Watch: Harry Kane
Harry Kane remains England's talisman. Were it not for his heroics, DR Congo might have set up a last-16 meeting with Mexico instead of England. The Bayern Munich striker is arguably the best in the world in his position right now.
