Man United predicted XI vs Rosenborg: JJ Gabriel call

Manchester United will play their second game of pre-season today as they face Rosenborg in Trondheim. While pre-season is all about building fitness and you can read very little into the results, Michael Carrick won't want to make it two defeats from two games.

Opening defeat to Wrexham

United went down 1-0 to Wrexham in their opening pre-season friendly last weekend. A tepid affair was settled by Sam Smith's first-half strike, with United producing very little in response as the players looked to build up their match fitness.

Carrick made wholesale changes at the break in Helsinki, with a youthful side playing the second half in the defeat. One of those to stake a claim for more minutes in pre-season was Jacob Devenay, and he spoke to reporters after the game about his plans for the upcoming season, with another loan move away a possibility.

Expected starting XI

Devenay might again need to wait for the second half against Rosenborg to show his quality, with Carrick expected to name a strong starting XI. Tom Heaton can start in goal with Leny Yoro at right-back. Luke Shaw will start on the left with Ayden Heaven partnering Harry Maguire in the centre.

Andrey Santos showed glimpses of what he will bring to this United side last week and he can start again in midfield. Mason Mount and Jack Fletcher can join him in the middle.

The forward line can also remain unchanged from last week's starting XI vs Wrexham, meaning Patrick Dorgu and Bryan Mbeumo will support Joshua Zirkzee up front.

Predicted United XI vs Rosenborg: Heaton, Yoro, Maguire, Heaven, Shaw, Santos, Mount, J.Fletcher, Mbeumo, Zirkzee, Dorgu.
