Fan Poll Results
MEN Sport asked United readers: 'Should Manchester United sign Carlos Baleba for £65m?' At the time of writing, 5,218 responses had been received, with 67 per cent voting 'Yes'. Just 22 per cent voted 'No', while a further 11 per cent were 'Unsure' about the deal.
Background and Previous Interest
Baleba was on the Reds' radar last year when the club initially started eyeing up replacements for Casemiro. At that time, United were quoted £100m. They would decide against launching a late bid for the Cameroon international upon discovering his valuation.
Last season, following the Reds' interest, Baleba's form suffered a dip. His head coach, Fabian Hurzeler, later admitted that speculation surrounding his future had contributed to the 22-year-old's performance level dropping.
Brighton's Response
Amidst United's interest in Baleba, Brighton's chief executive, Paul Barber, was quizzed about interest in his club's midfielder. He said: "It's not something that I can talk about right now. At this time of year, we're always going to be subject to bids for our players. We are always going to be interested in ones that are sensible and that are going to make sense for us financially and economically."
