Manchester United could hand out three debuts in their pre-season friendly against La Liga side Atletico Madrid in Stockholm, Sweden, on August 1.
United's preparations for the new season have been mixed so far. They began with a 1-0 defeat to Wrexham but then thrashed Rosenborg 5-0. The team will train at Carrington before travelling to Stockholm.
Senior players like Amad are expected to return to Carrington this week following his round of 32 exit. Among those likely to feature, three players could make their first appearances for the club.
JJ Gabriel
The 15-year-old forward has impressed for the academy, scoring 29 goals in all competitions last season and featuring regularly for the U18s. He was included in the squad for the Rosenborg trip but did not play. Gabriel is expected to train with the first team again this week and could get minutes against Atletico Madrid due to a lack of options up front.
Tynan Thompson
The 18-year-old winger joined United from Tottenham for family reasons. He scored frequently in the UEFA Youth League last season and made the bench in the Champions League. United informed him that senior opportunities are available immediately, and a debut against Atletico would fulfil that promise.
Karl Darlow
The Wales international goalkeeper has not yet travelled with the squad this pre-season due to a minor pre-existing issue. With Radek Vitek close to an exit and Senne Lammens still on a post-World Cup break, Darlow could feature against Atletico Madrid if he has recovered sufficiently.
