The Great North Run will livestream its finish line on September 13, allowing friends and family who cannot be in South Shields to watch their loved ones cross the line from home. The half-marathon marks its 45th anniversary and is set to be the biggest event yet, with a record 63,000 people signed up and more than 200,000 spectators expected to line the 13.1-mile Newcastle to South Shields route.
How to watch the finish line live
The event will be broadcast live on BBC1 from 10am until 1.30pm as usual. Additionally, the Great North Run will focus on the finish line and stream it live on Great Run YouTube. Runners are invited to head to @GreatRunTV on YouTube to subscribe.
Runners can share the livestream link with family and friends before the big day. The event said: "Catch every finish line moment live from the biggest ever 45th AJ Bell Great North Run! Join us on Sunday, September 13 as 63,000 participants take on the world's biggest half marathon from Newcastle to South Shields. Watch it all unfold live from the finish line in South Shields. Celebrations at the finish line
The livestream link will go live on September 13 at 11am. When runners pass the finish line, they will find an apres-run zone with live music, food and drink outlets, and a beer tent to help them celebrate.
