Holidaymakers flying with easyJet, Jet2, Ryanair and British Airways from Edinburgh Airport could get one hour of free parking by using the airport's twilight bag drop service. The service is now available every day and allows passengers on early morning departures to drop off their luggage the evening before, so they can go straight to security on the day of travel.
How the twilight bag drop works
According to the Edinburgh Airport website, the free service is available during both summer and winter periods. Passengers with a valid Edinburgh Airport car park reservation get complimentary entry to the 1hr Parking zone the evening before departure while dropping off their suitcases. The barrier rises automatically, so no extra steps are needed on arrival.
The window for depositing bags varies by airline. Jet2 passengers can drop bags between 4.30pm and 9pm, easyJet between 4pm and 8pm, Ryanair between 5pm and 9pm, and British Airways between 4pm and 8pm.
Eligibility and requirements
The twilight bag drop is open to easyJet, Jet2 and British Airways passengers with departures scheduled at or before 12pm, and Ryanair customers with departures at or before 8am. To use the service, you must have checked in and have a boarding pass. Travellers can typically drop off up to six bags for fellow passengers on the same booking, but must bring everyone's passports and boarding passes.
Ryanair passengers should note that all travellers, not just the lead booker, must be present at bag drop. Jet2 passengers must complete online check-in at least 24 hours before departure. Only parking bookings made directly with the airport are eligible for the service.
