Arthur Fery Banned from Court 18 After Wimbledon Win

Arthur Fery, Britain's last remaining hope at Wimbledon, has been effectively banned from playing on Court 18 for the remainder of the tournament after a dramatic five-set victory. The 23-year-old wildcard defeated Zizou Bergs 2-6 7-5 2-6 7-6 (7-3) 7-6 (10-5) on Saturday, becoming the first British wildcard to reach the fourth round since Andrew Foster in 1993.

Court 18 Ban Confirmed

BBC Wimbledon pundit Jamie Murray suggested that Fery would not be allowed to play on Court 18 again this tournament. "He loves playing on Court 18, he requested it again today. I don't know if he's going to be allowed to play on that court anymore for the rest of this tournament," Murray said. Clare Balding added that it was "highly unlikely" given Fery's next opponent, Grigor Dimitrov, would be scheduled on Centre Court.

Historic Comeback

Fery's victory was marked by multiple nosebleeds in the fourth and fifth sets, but he rallied from two breaks down in the fourth set to force a tiebreak. The crowd on Court 18 erupted as he sealed the win. Fery had requested to stay on Court 18 for the Bergs match, and his wish was granted by the All England Club.

Moving On to Centre Court

Despite his love for Court 18, Fery accepted the need to move on. "No, I think it's time to move on. I'll keep those great memories on 18 from today and Thursday for the rest of my life," he said. Fery will face Grigor Dimitrov on Centre Court on Monday, after Dimitrov defeated Matteo Berrettini.
