Liverpool could continue pushing on with their transfer plans despite the vacancy in the Anfield dugout. Arne Slot was dismissed after two years in charge, becoming only the sixth managerial sacking at the club this century.
Managerial Search Ongoing
Departing Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola has emerged as the leading contender to succeed the Premier League-winning boss, with talks set to begin this week. The 43-year-old would become only the second Spanish boss in Liverpool history, following in the footsteps of Rafael Benitez.
While the Reds' hierarchy remain focused on appointing a new manager, Yan Diomande is reportedly set to make a decision on his future. Elsewhere, conversations surrounding a swap deal have emerged.
Yan Diomande 'Wants Liverpool'
Liverpool's interest in Yan Diomande has long been known, and the RB Leipzig star is said to have made a decision regarding his uncertain future. According to reports in Spain, the 19-year-old is leaning towards a transfer to the Premier League, with Paris Saint-Germain rivalling the Reds for his services.
The Reds are currently without a manager but have reportedly promised the Ivorian an important role in their squad next season. It is a promise the back-to-back Champions League winners are unable to commit to, given the likes of Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue and Bradley Barcola at their disposal.
Diomande scored 13 goals and contributed 10 assists in 36 games across all competitions in his debut Bundesliga season. Many have earmarked him to be the long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah, with the forward reportedly having a release clause of around £86 million.
Swap Deal Talks Emerge
Reports in Italy have emerged that Liverpool's possible acquisition of Denzel Dumfries could result in Curtis Jones heading the opposite direction to Inter Milan. The 25-year-old is entering the final 12 months of his contract and has been subject to interest from the Serie A champions.
It was recently reported that a 'gulf' existed between the two clubs, with Inter struggling to meet the Reds' £25.9 million (€30 million) valuation of Jones – which is £8.6 million (€10 million) more than the Italian giants can afford.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, via Sportwitness, the outlet claims Liverpool suggested the addition of Dumfries to the negotiating table in order to make up the difference in their valuation of Jones. The Netherlands international reportedly has a £22 million release clause in his contract; however, it is currently not known whether either club plans to continue talks regarding Jones and Dumfries.
