Transfer news LIVE: Rodri £65.4m, Barcola boost, Osimhen to Arsenal

Manchester City have agreed to sell Rodri to Barcelona in a deal worth up to £65m. The Spaniard is set to sign a four-year contract with the Catalan club, who will pay an initial £51m. Rodri had entered the final year of his contract with City, with Lille midfielder Ayyoub Bouaddi set to replace him.

Barcelona have beaten La Liga rivals Real Madrid to his signature. The deal was reported by Fabrizio Romano on Sunday night, with Rodri not involved in Manchester City's Community Shield defeat.

Liverpool's Barcola boost

Liverpool's hopes of signing Bradley Barcola received a boost on Sunday after he was left out of the Paris Saint-Germain squad for the French Super Cup final against Lens. That development comes after PSG completed the signing of Spain's World Cup final hero Ferran Torres from Barcelona for £42.7m.

The French giants also secured the signing of Mika Godts from Ajax over the weekend. The deal could be worth up to €55m (£47m) to Ajax, consisting of an initial fee of €45m, plus €10m in potential add-ons.

Arsenal's Osimhen chase

Arsenal may have to fork out at least £60m if they hope to sign Galatasaray's Victor Osimhen before next month's transfer deadline. The Gunners are looking to add firepower to their attack this summer, having missed out on Real Madrid's Vinicius Junior following a long and drawn-out transfer saga.

Galatasaray president Dursun Ozbek has confirmed in private that Osimhen will not be sold this summer, despite interest from Arsenal. It is claimed that Ozbek doesn't see a move benefiting the Turkish titans, regardless of club sources citing how £60m could be enough to get a deal over the line.

Other transfer news

Aston Villa goalkeeper Emi Martinez will not be heading to Juventus this summer. The Italian side have decided not to proceed such is the gap in valuation over the play. Despite that, The Athletic reports Villa will still look to add Japan goalkeeper Zion Suzuki, with an agreement reached with Parma for a fee potentially rising to around £30m.

Tottenham have snubbed Juventus' attempt to sign Guglielmo Vicario on loan. Gazzetta dello Sport report that Spurs are not interested in a loan without an obligation to buy. That appears to have stalled the move, with Juve's pursuit of Aston Villa's Emi Martinez gaining more traction.

Manchester United boss Michael Carrick is happy with the transfers completed so far but would like to see more players come through the door. “I think we’ve done really good business and we’ve got really some top, top, top players,” Carrick said. “We’re delighted with that. We always want to improve. We want more, we need more, we keep looking for how we can do that. That never stops.”

Newcastle are among the teams linked to signing Christopher Nkunku from AC Milan, per Marca. The Magpies, alongside Borussia Dortmund and Leipzig are interested with calls from Spain also arriving for the Frenchman.

Taiwo Awoniyi said goodbye to Nottingham Forest's fans at half-time of the club's friendly against Brest. The forward received a guard of honour from his team-mates as he walked out after a deal was agreed with Coventry. Awoniyi is to depart in a deal worth £17m after going through his medical on Saturday.
