The summer transfer window is intensifying as top Premier League clubs push for signings before the deadline. Arsenal have made a surprise approach for Spain defender Marc Pubill, while Chelsea have set a hard deadline for Enzo Fernandez's sale. Manchester United are eyeing David Raum, and Liverpool remain confident of securing Bradley Barcola.
Arsenal's shock approach for Pubill
Arsenal have made a shock approach for Spain defender Marc Pubill, according to reports. The Gunners are keen on signing a versatile new centre-back who can also operate on the right-hand side of defence, amid injuries to William Saliba and Jurrien Timber.
Arsenal are targeting a move for Ezri Konsa and have also eyed Jules Kounde. At the other end of the pitch, they have been heavily linked with Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez. According to Fabrizio Romano, Arsenal have made an approach over Alvarez's Atletico team-mate Pubill, making “some contact to understand about the price” and to ascertain if a “difficult deal” would be possible in this window.
Chelsea set Fernandez deadline
Chelsea have set a hard deadline for any suitors interested in signing Enzo Fernandez this summer. The Argentina international has attracted interest from Real Madrid and Manchester City. Standard Sport understands that the Blues have set a deadline of Friday at 5pm BST for any interested clubs to meet their £120million asking price for the 25-year-old.
Chelsea have also confirmed the signing of Pep Chavarria, who moved from Rayo Vallecano for an £18m package. Chavarria said: “In the morning, in the afternoon, in the evening, I dreamed of moments like this. I’ve played at every level in Spain, and to be able to move up, it’s always been about hard work because today is my dream coming true. I can say it was all worth it.”
Other key moves and rumours
Manchester United are eyeing David Raum as an alternative to Lewis Hall, having also looked at Lewis-Skelly and Iliman Ndiaye. Liverpool remain confident of a deal for Barcola as they also target Ibrahim Mbaye. Tottenham reportedly remain in pursuit of Folarin Balogun after agreeing to sell Cristian Romero to Atletico Madrid.
Romelu Lukaku has sealed his exit from Napoli, joining Turkish Super Lig side Fenerbahce. Cristian Romero will join Atletico Madrid in the coming days after the La Liga side reached an agreement with Tottenham. Per Fabrizio Romano, a €40m (£34.2m) package has been agreed, including a 15 per cent sell-on clause.
Tottenham may look to Crystal Palace’s Daniel Munoz as a potential replacement for Djed Spence. Hull City have booked a medical for Lucas Gourna-Douath ahead of his transfer from RB Salzburg, with €4m (£3.4m) due to change hands. Sevilla will compete with West Ham to sign Rangers' Connor Barron.
