Swansea City have confirmed Ollie Cooper's departure from the club, with the attacker joining Notts County on loan. The deal includes the option for it to be made permanent.
Cooper's Recent Career
The Welshman spent the first half of last season on loan with Wigan Athletic but was recalled by head coach Vitor Matos in January. He went onto make just one appearance under the Portuguese in the back end of the 2025/26 campaign, with his future in SA1 looking increasingly doubtful over the course of the summer.
The 26-year-old has now agreed a season-long loan deal with the Magpies - and with his contract up in Landore next summer, it's likely he has played his last game for the club.
Manager's Comments
“I think he's at an age where he needs to play,” Matos said after the win over Leganes at the weekend. “There's an agreement between clubs for a loan but it's still not confirmed, so when it is confirmed we will speak about it.”
That agreement has now been reached and he'll spend the 2026/27 campaign at Meadow Lane under Martin Paterson. They achieved promotion to League One last season, beating Salford 3-0 in the play-off final.
Summer Departures and Arrivals
Cooper follows Liam Cullen, Sam Parker, Ethan Galbraith, Ricardo Santos, Joel Ward and Cameron Congreve out of the club this summer. His departure came hot on the heels of the club announcing the loan signing of Portuguese defender Tiago Parente from Benfica.
The terms of the signing also included an option to buy the 20-year-old. Brought in to provide cover for Josh Tymon at left-back, the youngster could be involved against Birmingham City in the EFL Cup this weekend.
