Rangers are considering Portland Timbers striker Kevin Kelsy as a replacement for the injured Youssef Chermiti, according to Record Sport. The 22-year-old Venezuela forward has scored nine goals in 17 Major League Soccer games this season.
Kelsy's Career Path
Kelsy has been with the Timbers for the past two years. Before moving to MLS, he played for Mineros de Guayana in Venezuela and later for Uruguayan side Boston River. He has also had loan spells at Shakhtar Donetsk and FC Cincinnati.
Chermiti's Injury
The need for a new striker arose after Chermiti suffered an ACL injury during a match against Hibs. The Portuguese striker is expected to be sidelined for a significant period.
Rangers' recruitment team is currently compiling a list of striking options that could be bought or loaned in this window.
Other Transfer Targets
Rangers are also looking to sign a left-back following Tuur Rommens' injury, with AEK Athens' James Penrice and Jayden Meghoma both on their list. The club is also looking to offload several players, including Scotland international John Souttar.
