Liverpool's patient approach to signing Bradley Barcola could be vindicated, with reports suggesting Paris Saint-Germain have lowered their valuation of the winger. The Reds remain keen on the 23-year-old, but a fee has yet to be agreed.
Barcola transfer strategy
PSG had reportedly placed a £145million price tag on Barcola, a figure Liverpool are reluctant to meet. The Ligue 1 champions have since signed Maghnes Akliouche, Ferran Torres and Mika Godts, softening their stance on keeping the Frenchman.
French outlet Jeunes Footeux, via Liverpool.com, reports that PSG have now reduced their asking price, seemingly justifying Liverpool's cautious approach. However, journalist Ben Jacobs has warned on talkSPORT, via This Is Anfield, that the Reds could be taking a gamble by waiting until the closing stages of the window to force an even lower fee.
Ngumoha's potential new role
Should Barcola complete his move to Anfield, he would likely take the left-wing position, pushing Rio Ngumoha to the right flank, according to The Times. The 17-year-old has been a regular on the right during pre-season and started there in the final friendly against Como on Sunday.
Liverpool are yet to find a permanent successor to Mohamed Salah, and Ngumoha is considered the frontrunner to fill that role. Manager Andoni Iraola demands versatility from his wide players, a trait he cultivated at Bournemouth with Antoine Semenyo and Dango Ouattara.
Ngumoha has been adapting to the opposite flank, saying: "All the coaching staff are just telling me to play my normal game really, whether that's going inside or outside. I've been working on it in training anyway, playing on the right and the left. Just being unpredictable really."
