Newcastle United are on the verge of completing a deadline day deal to sign Lille forward Matias Fernandez-Pardo. The 22-year-old is expected to fly to Tyneside later today to finalise the move, which will also see Nick Woltemade leave St James' Park on loan.
Fernandez-Pardo set for £51m move
The transfer is valued at £51m and is close to completion. Fernandez-Pardo signed a five-year deal with Lille in 2024, and the Ligue 1 club are reluctant to sell, but the player is keen to play in the Premier League.
Woltemade heading to Juventus
Woltemade, who initially wanted to stay at Newcastle, has now agreed to leave on loan. His representatives have been in talks with Juventus over the weekend, with the clubs negotiating who will cover the majority of the German international's wages. A loan fee will also be charged to Juventus for the 6ft 6in forward.
Juventus have moved ahead of Napoli in the race for Woltemade, while Atletico Madrid also showed interest. The German forward could now be Turin-bound as he looks ahead to a stint in Serie A.
