Rangers manager Derek McInnes has said it is for the club's hierarchy to decide when Youssef Chermiti's valuation is met, following the rejection of a £22 million bid from Galatasaray for the attacker.
The Turkish giants are expected to return with an improved offer to test the resolve of Ibrox chiefs. Had the bid been accepted, it would have surpassed the £20 million fee Rangers received from Ajax for Calvin Bassey in 2022.
McInnes confirms bid rejected
Speaking to BBC Sportsound, McInnes was asked if the club had turned down an offer for the frontman. He responded: "I am led to believe, yes. The club's valuation of the player hasn't been met."
"So, from our point of view, like everything else, when you get clubs looking at your players, it's business as you were. It's no surprise he is a player with a big tag on him and high potential. Thankfully he is here, and that will continue to be the case."
Asked whether that would remain the case until Rangers "get exactly you want for him", McInnes said: "That is for the people above me."
McInnes focused on building team
"At the minute we're trying to build a team here at the minute and we're trying to still bring additions to the team that helps us add to the good players that we've got, including Youssef," he added. "So, it's not something we would encourage at any point and as I say obviously news has broken today but we're just trying to concentrate on the game today."
Driouech pursuit ongoing
McInnes also confirmed that Rangers have not given up their pursuit of PSV winger Couhaib Driouech, with a new bid on the table amid interest from Celta Vigo and Burnley in the 24-year-old.
Quizzed on the Driouech offer, he said: "We have a few bids in for several players and we have a few things ongoing at the moment. We would have liked things to come to fruition a little bid sooner, but if there is any news it will be in upcoming days on a few of our targets."
