Mazraoui backs Rashford to make big Man United impact

Noussair Mazraoui believes Marcus Rashford could make a big impact for Manchester United this season if he stays at Old Trafford. Rashford spent last season on loan at Barcelona, but the Catalan club decided against making the move permanent, and the 28-year-old has been welcomed back to United by Michael Carrick after the World Cup.

Rashford's return to training

United are training in the Republic of Ireland this week and Rashford has joined the squad following his post-World Cup break. Rashford was not in contention to be involved in United's friendly against Leeds on Wednesday night, but he could be named in the squad for the final pre-season game of the summer against AC Milan this weekend.

Carrick left the door open for Rashford to return to the club when he was asked about his future last season, and he is set to be reintegrated if a suitable offer does not arrive before the transfer deadline.

Mazraoui's verdict

Mazraoui was asked about United's new signings after the pre-season win against Leeds, and he mentioned Rashford's return to the club. Speaking to ITV Sport, Mazraoui said: "We have made some great signings. Rashford has come back, who can also be a big one in this season, if he, of course, does not leave. That's not up to me, of course."

"But anyways, yeah, of course, we have big signings, we made good signings, and yeah, the team is still strong and stronger. So yeah, we have to go and aim really high."

Tielemans' backing

Youri Tielemans also backed Rashford to be reintegrated into the squad when he spoke to reporters this week. "He was very humble, he was just hard working," Tielemans said about playing with Rashford at Aston Villa. "And from the first training you could tell his touch, his acceleration was just amazing."

"That was just what we needed at the time at Villa as well, so he did many good things in that time and hopefully he can bring them here."
