Manchester United have been linked with a summer move for Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali, but the deal may require the sale of three players to raise funds, according to reports.
The Italy international, who is under contract at Newcastle until 2029 with no release clause, was valued at over £100 million last summer. Newcastle have a history of holding firm on valuations, as seen with Alexander Isak's £125 million move to Liverpool.
To finance a potential Tonali transfer, United may need to sell Rasmus Hojlund, Marcus Rashford, and Manuel Ugarte. Hojlund is currently on loan at Napoli with an obligation to buy, and the club has committed to a permanent deal. Rashford, on loan at Barcelona, is also expected to complete a permanent move in the summer.
Ugarte, who joined United for £50 million in 2024, has made only 22 appearances this season and is reportedly attracting interest from Turkish clubs. The report does not specify United's asking price for the midfielder.
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe has dismissed speculation about Tonali's future, saying: 'The person that matters the most is Sandro. All I've ever seen from him is someone who is totally committed.'
