Man Utd Target Arsenal's Lewis-Skelly as Arteta Sets Price Tag

Manchester United have identified Arsenal defender Myles Lewis-Skelly as a potential successor to Luke Shaw at left-back, with reports suggesting the Gunners are open to selling the 19-year-old this summer if their valuation is met.

Lewis-Skelly broke into the first team under Mikel Arteta last season but has struggled for minutes in 2025/26, making just one Premier League start and accumulating over 300 league minutes. The arrival of Piero Hincapie, whose loan from Bayer Leverkusen is set to become permanent, has intensified competition alongside Riccardo Calafiori.

According to BBC Sport, Arsenal are willing to cash in on both Lewis-Skelly and fellow academy graduate Ethan Nwaneri, currently on loan at Marseille, for a combined £100 million. The club's stance reflects Arteta's philosophy that youngsters must earn their opportunities at the highest level.

Arteta said: 'It's part of us. At the end, what it has to define this football club is to seek for the excellence and to seek for the best, regardless of whether you're coming from the academy or from abroad. They have to earn it, and not for a week, not for a month, not for years like anybody else.'

Arsenal are also open to selling Gabriel Jesus, Ben White and Gabriel Martinelli if suitable offers arrive, indicating a ruthless approach to squad building as they aim for sustained success.
