Manchester United have confirmed the signing of 16-year-old winger Isaac Konde from Liverpool, with the teenager joining the club's academy. The move was announced despite the transfer window being closed, and Konde has signed a scholar deal for the time being, with professional terms expected when he turns 17 in October.
Konde joins United academy
The Athletic reports that Liverpool are seeking millions in compensation for the deal, which is not entirely settled. A club statement read: "Manchester United have agreed the signing of winger Isaac Konde. The talented youngster has joined after leaving Liverpool."
The statement added: "The 16-year-old had his first taste of Under-18 football at Liverpool, featuring regularly towards the end of the 2025/26 campaign. Everyone at the club would like to welcome Isaac to United and wish him the very best of luck."
Konde is a versatile winger who can play off either flank. He recorded one assist in six appearances for Liverpool's under-18s last term, where he enjoyed greater prominence toward the end of the season.
United urged to raid City
The move follows United's recent track record of recruiting young talents from rival clubs. Just last week, the club confirmed the arrivals of central midfielders David Eze and Karim Cassim after they left Manchester City.
United may not be done with City, as Gabriel Agbonlahor has suggested Carrick could raid their neighbours in light of recent developments. City were found guilty on 114 of their 115 charges for Premier League spending breaches, and an exodus of players is expected at the Etihad should their penalty be so severe that it results in possible relegation.
Speaking on talkSPORT when asked which players United should seek to sign from their arch-nemeses, Agbonlahor said: "[Gianluigi] Donnarumma – I have been watching [Senne] Lammens. Poor at the World Cup, cost Belgium in that game, and I think he has not been great this season. Look at the own goal – Lisandro Martinez against Fulham. He has got to be better with that save. I am not convinced in him. I will say Donnarumma to Manchester United. Manchester United will go and nick their number one goalkeeper."
He continued: "Elliot Anderson – Manchester United wanted you, now you go there. Manchester United – you wanted Elliot Anderson, go and get him for maybe half the price."
The arrival of Anderson, who made a £116m move from Nottingham Forest in the summer, seems the less likely of the two given United's summer was heavily fixated on adding midfielders. However, many fans might like the idea of seeing a goalkeeper of Donnarumma's calibre at the club following his £26m switch from PSG last year.
