Manchester United have one month remaining to reshape their squad before the transfer deadline on September 1, with Michael Carrick's side still busy despite securing several new signings. The midfield remains a priority, even after bringing in Youri Tielemans and Andrey Santos.
£85m Tchouameni would transform midfield
Aurelien Tchouameni arriving from Real Madrid would be a statement signing in the final weeks of the window. The Red Devils refused to pay astronomical sums for Elliot Anderson, Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes earlier in the summer, but spending big on the 26-year-old France international would underline the club's ambitions.
Spanish outlet AS reported that Real Madrid would seek around £85m for Tchouameni after he recently penned a contract extension. With Real Madrid keen on Manchester City's Rodri, Tchouameni could weigh up his options elsewhere. He would give Carrick an impressive midfield group alongside Tielemans, Andrey Santos and Kobbie Mainoo, following Casemiro's departure.
Lewis Hall as long-term Shaw replacement
United are interested in Newcastle left-back Lewis Hall and could secure Luke Shaw's long-term replacement this summer. The 21-year-old England international has impressed at Newcastle, who have already shown a willingness to sell key players through the departures of Anthony Gordon and Tonali.
Hall is reportedly open to joining Carrick's side, but Newcastle are hesitant about selling another prized asset. The defender left Chelsea for £35m in 2023 and could command a substantial fee. United depended heavily on Shaw last season and have concerns about his fitness, while Patrick Dorgu looked more effective on the left wing. A move for Hall would allow United to begin left-back succession planning early.
Dusan Vlahovic would ease striker burden on Sesko
Benjamin Sesko's absence from early pre-season fixtures has highlighted the need for another striker. Joshua Zirkzee has spearheaded the attack but has struggled since arriving from Bologna in 2024, with reports linking him with a £30m return to Serie A. Sesko, 23, is still developing and should not be the club's only senior striker ahead of a Champions League campaign and an attempt to improve on their third-place Premier League finish.
Dusan Vlahovic is among the forwards linked with a move to Old Trafford and is a free agent after leaving Juventus, where he scored 68 goals in 168 matches. The 26-year-old could offer competition and rotation, allowing Sesko to develop under Carrick while Vlahovic also gets chances to impress at Old Trafford.
