Manchester United are reportedly among the clubs chasing Bologna defender Jhon Lucumi, who is seeking a high-profile transfer this summer. The 28-year-old, who featured in Colombia's World Cup squad, has also caught the eye of Juventus, according to reports.
Quotidiano Sportivo claims Juventus have had a £15million bid turned down by Bologna, who value Lucumi at £24m. United are also reported to have registered their interest, but they face stiff competition from Chelsea, Como, Napoli and Nottingham Forest.
Lucumi's stance boosts United hopes
In terms of the player's stance, Lucumi reportedly "wants the big clubs", which could enhance United's prospects of winning the transfer race. The defender has spent four seasons with Bologna and featured 43 times across all competitions last term.
Kim Min-jae commits to Bayern
Meanwhile, United's chances of securing Bayern Munich star Kim Min-jae have suffered a setback. The 29-year-old has outlined that he will stay and fight for his place at the German side. United have been linked with a potential move for the South Korea international, with their interest stretching back to his time at Napoli, but Kim is committed to remaining with Vincent Kompany's team.
"As a player, just to be with a team like Bayern Munich is a blessing," Kim said. "Last season, I thought I played a lot of matches. I am competing as the third defender [behind Upamecano and Tah], and I know I have no choice but to work hard. I think the coach will give me a lot of opportunities, and I think I will stay put."
When pressed on Kim's position at the club, Bayern manager Kompany highlighted the value of having players vying for the same spot: "The main thing is to have the quality. Then afterwards, it is for them to compete to prove on the pitch. What I will give a compliment to Min-jae [about] is that no matter what, he keeps the focus, and he does the talking on the pitch."
