Manchester United have confirmed their retained list to the Premier League, revealing which players will leave the club on a free transfer this summer. First-team stars Tyrell Malacia, Casemiro and Jadon Sancho will all depart when their contracts expire at the end of this month.
New contract offer for Dermot Mee
United have offered a new deal to 23-year-old goalkeeper Dermot Mee, who has been a key figure in training despite not breaking into the first team from a playing perspective. The Northern Ireland academy graduate has played an important role in first-team training in recent years while also representing United's Under-21s side in competitive fixtures.
Casemiro's departure
The departure of Casemiro had been expected after the Brazilian confirmed in January that he would leave when his contract expired. The 34-year-old enjoyed a memorable four seasons at Old Trafford following his £60 million move from Real Madrid, scoring 26 goals in 160 appearances and winning the Carabao Cup and FA Cup.
Malacia and Sancho leave
Malacia departs after two serious knee injuries. He made 50 appearances in his four years at the club but played only three times as a late substitute in the Premier League last season. Sancho, a £73 million signing from Borussia Dortmund, has spent the last two-and-a-half years out on loan, and his United career has long been considered over. He made only 83 appearances for the club in five years.
Academy departures and new deals
Three academy players will leave on free transfers: Sonny Aljofree, James Bailey and Malachi Sharpe. However, defenders Albert Mills and Dante Plunkett are expected to sign their first professional terms with the club in July.
