Isak has expressed a desire to move to Anfield and did not travel on Newcastle's pre-season tour of Asia, citing a minor thigh injury. The player has been training at former club Real Sociedad this week and has three years remaining on his contract at St James' Park.
Newcastle have maintained Isak is not for sale but have been attempting to sign other top-level strikers this summer, including Hugo Ekitiké, Liam Delap, and Bryan Mbeumo, without success. Whether a breakthrough in their striker search softens their stance on Isak remains to be seen.
