Liverpool have been handed a boost in their pursuit of Bradley Barcola, with Paris Saint-Germain appearing to close in on a replacement for the 23-year-old. The Reds have identified Barcola as their number one target to strengthen their forward line.
Barcola has two years left on his PSG contract and is believed to want to move to Anfield. The ECHO reported last week that Liverpool are set to hold talks with PSG, who value the France international at around £140 million, although separate reports suggest Liverpool hope to agree a fee closer to £100 million.
PSG move for Mika Godts
According to Fabrizio Romano, PSG are getting ready to sign Ajax star Mika Godts, widely tipped to be Barcola's replacement. A €40 million (£34.2 million) bid has been submitted, with personal terms already agreed with the Belgium international.
Godts typically plays on the left wing for Ajax, and if a move is completed it would likely fuel further speculation that Barcola could leave. PSG are also reported to be closing in on a deal for Maghnes Akliouche from Monaco, which would add to the rumours.
Liverpool's quiet window
Liverpool have had a quiet transfer window, with only two additions to the squad inherited by Andoni Iraola from former boss Arne Slot. Victor Munoz was signed at the start of the summer after Liverpool paid the £34.5 million release clause in the Spain international's contract at Osasuna.
In February, Liverpool agreed a £60 million deal for Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes. The defender officially moved to Anfield this summer but is yet to make his first pre-season appearance.
